In Ilorin, during the Annual Lecture of National Association of Zoology Students, University of Ilorin on Friday, a Professor of Applied Zoology, Stephen Oluwagbemiga, while speaking at the event with the theme:Relevance of Zoology in Contemporary Nigeria; admonished that people with low sperm count should make a habit of eating more of goat meat and foods that contain different nutrients to boost their fertility.
Professor Oluwagbemiga also cautioned that Nigerians should desist from feeding too much on junk foods stressing that the advice was necessary because many people were deficient in calcium even as he added that inadequate calcium in the body could adversely affect how peoples’ hearts and other parts of the body performed.
The Professor went on to stress the need for people to increase their calcium in-take by eating crayfish, snails and biscuit bones even as he mentioned that Zoologists had been involved in solving some of the nation’s health problems amongst which are guinea worm infection, sleeping sickness and mosquito bites.
Also, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe, the Commissioner for Information and Communications in Kwara State praised the students for organising the lecture, and urged them to face their studies.
The Commissioner also charged the students to cultivate the habit of reading widely in order to excel in all fields of human endeavours.
