Reports reaching us states that the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) has again been shut down.
According to sources, the decision was reached after militants blew up the crude line that links it to the Kaduna refinery, a senior official of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said.
The Warri Refinery was producing two million litres of petrol per day before the latest closure.
According to the source, the shutdown also affected crude supplies to Kaduna refinery which was also switched on late last month after lengthy repairs.
Kaduna refinery receives its feedstock crude through the 125,000 barrel per day (bpd) Warri refinery.
According to the source, “Kaduna is still in production because it has crude inventory; it has crude in storage. So, it is working. Warri is the one that is impacted, it is down at the moment but we are looking at alternatives to supply crude to it,”
“We have good inventory at the moment.The refineries supplement import so there is no impact. We have good stock”
Meanwhile, operations in Kaduna refinery is still on because it is now utilizing crude in its storage.
