CHICAGO – A man in his 40s has died after falling on CTA Blue Line tracks early Saturday morning in The Loop.
The 46-year-old man was removed from the third rail at the Clark and Lake station around 4:30 a.m. and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead, according to police.
A spokesman for Chicago police told WGN that alcohol may have played a role when the man fell off the platform and onto the southbound tracks, hitting the electrified third tail.
Some CTA Blue Line trains experienced delays but service resumed about 5 a.m.
