AGF Names Former Governors Whose Corruption Cases Are To Be Reopened
Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), last week sent a letter to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) requesting for the case files of former governors that have been investigated for corruption.

According to a report by The Punch, no fewer than 31 former States Governors are likely to have the alleged corruption cases against them reopened by the Federal Government.
According to media sources, some of the former governors whose corruption cases are to be reopened include Senate President Bukola Saraki who was a two term governor of Kwara state, Orji Uzo Kalu of Abia State, Ahmed Yerima of Zamfara State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, George Akume of Benue State, Saminu Turaki of Jigawa State, Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State, Boni Haruna of Adamawa State, Peter Odili of Rivers State, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi and others. PDP Tackles Oshiomhole Over EFCC Comment
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as ‘preposterous’ the recent statement by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State that its candidate for the Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu be arrested before the elections.
Governor Adams Oshiomole had last Wednesday, at the APC campaign flag-off for Edo North at Auchi, reportedly said “the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should do its job and make the PDP candidate face the music for collecting N700 million of the Dasuki Arms fund.”
But a statement yesterday, by the spokesman of the PDP national caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said Oshiomhole’s statement confirmed that the anti-corruption war of the present administration is “nothing but a partisan political agenda to intimidate, suppress and silence the PDP.” Daily Trust
OAU Announces Resumption after Two Months Strike
The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife have asked students of the institution to resume next Wednesday.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Biodun Olarewaju, confirmed this in a press statement on Thursday.
The announcement came two months after activities on OAU campus were halted by members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities. Punch
JTF Launches “Operation Crocodile Tears” After Threat of Force In Niger Delta
The Nigerian military on Wednesday announced it will launch a series of tactical drills in Enugu from weekend, days after threatening the use of force in neighbouring Niger Delta where militants have attacked oil and gas installations for months.

Expert Urges FG to Float Bond to Offset FX Loans to Oil Marketers
A former Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank Plc, Mr. Emeka Onwuka has advised the federal government to float a bond programme to cover backlog of forex payments due to the downstream oil and gas companies which were funded by banks.

Union Bank Ends Half Year with N8.6bn Profit
Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has reported improved performance for the half year ended June 30, 2016 amidst the challenging operating environment. The unaudited results made available at the stock market yesterday showed that the group recorded gross earnings of N60.1 billion, showing an increase of eight per cent above the N55.4 billion in the corresponding period of 2015. Net interest income rose by 18 per cent from N26.3 billion to N30.9 billion, while non-interest income grew by 25 per cent from N12.6 billion to N15.7 billion in 2016.
Impairment charges went up by 100 per cent from N3.0 billion to N8.8 billion, while operating expenses was kept flat at N29.1 billion, compared with N29.3 billion in 2015. Thisday
CWG Boss: ATM Usage Higher in Nigeria Compared to UK
A recent assessment by the Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Plc has revealed that a higher percentage of Nigerians use the ‘Automated Teller Machines’ (ATMs) compared to their counterparts in Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK).
The Chief Executive Officer of CWG, Mr. James Agada, who spoke at an Editors’ workshop organized by the company in shared the outcome of the assessment and noted that the average ATM in Nigeria dispenses thrice the number of notes in Ghana and 10 times the number of notes in U.K. Thisday
