Ohio is FINALLY going to make medical marijuana legal, but it will take another 2 years before the law goes into effect.

WDTN states, The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program says they will take all action to make sure the program is fully operational by September 2018, if not sooner.

The state says it will take TWO YEARS in order to ensure the safety of the public and promote access to a safe product. Why does it take 2 years to ensure the safety of something that many people already use in a safe manner?

Ohio is still developing the specifics about how to become a dispensary or cultivator and any doctor recommending medical marijuana will have to be certified by the State Medical Board of Ohio to do so.

According to WDTN,

Under Ohio law, all of the following are qualifying medical conditions:

  • AIDS

  • amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

  • Alzheimer’s disease

  • cancer, chronic traumatic encephalopathy

  • Crohn’s disease

  • epilepsy or another seizure disorder

  • fibromyalgia, glaucoma

  • hepatitis C

  • inflammatory bowel disease

  • multiple sclerosis

  • pain that is either chronic and severe or intractable

  • Parkinson’s disease

  • positive status for HIV

  • post-traumatic stress disorder

  • sickle cell anemia

  • spinal cord disease or injury

  • Tourette’s syndrome

  • traumatic brain injury

  • ulcerative colitis.

To add medical conditions to this list, the Medical Board will have to be petitioned, but the petition process is still being developed.

This is a huge win for the people as Ohio gets in line to legalize medical marijuana. Hopefully this will be a step in making the herb completely legal since it has been proven to have a long list of health benefits. Not to mention the list of great things hemp could be used for.

If you want your state to legalize medical marijuana, or just legalize marijuana, then contact your lawmakers tell them they need to be a voice for the people and help people be healthier with natural medicines.
