A video posted to Instagram appears to show a cell phone explode in the hand of singer CeeLo Green in a recording studio.
Green can be seen in the video talking on the phone while sitting in a chair when the sudden blast sends him to the ground.
The surveillance video was posted Saturday afternoon by @iamphillychase, who has since deleted it from his Instagram account:

Green, 42, posted a Facebook video Saturday night, reassuring his fans that he is OK. He says in the brief video that the footage was from a project he was working on, but did not confirm that the incident was staged.

“Hey y’all, listen, I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, and I’m well,” Green said in the Facebook video. “And I’m OK. Truthfully I’m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today. And actually, what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a project called Gnarly Davidson. It’s supposed to setup and introduce the new character and identity. Forgive me y’all.
“I’m still going to release the music though. But first and foremost, and for everybody who love me and care about me, I just want to let you all know I’m OK, and I just want to let you all know I’m OK. I just want to thank everybody for their love and support, and concern. That’s all I really want to say. I’ve had a very difficult day dealing with everything. Much love.”
The video was trending on Twitter throughout the day Saturday, and fellow musicians and celebrities reached out to CeeLo, offering words of support:
Many Twitter users claimed the video is fake or questioned whether it was a hoax, while others expressed concern about CeeLo’s health:
Ceelo is going to get sued for that fake video. All the Samsung phones I’ve seen explode start with a small fire first, not an explosion.

Others, including Rob Lowe, have suggested the phone in the video is a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which was discontinued earlier this year after several incidents where the phone overheated and exploded. But it is not clear from the video what type of phone CeeLo is holding.
