The comfortable daughter of the governor of Oyo state Abiola Ajimobi has branded protesting students whose school has been shut for many months “generation of mannerless children”. Ajibola Ajimobi made her condescending comments on Instagram.
Governor Ajimobi has come under fire after he threatened students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, who were protesting the seven-month closure of their school. The protest took place on January 9.
In a video that went viral on Saturday, Ajimobi told students they could do “their worst” as he “was ready for them”. He told them he was “the constituted authority” and he should be respected. “Even if I don’t pay salary”, he said, “I remain the constituted authority”.
Showing clear insensitivity to the plight of the students, Ajimobi railed: “Your school being locked for eight months is no big deal. Is your school the first to be locked, if this is how you will come to talk to me, go and do your worst, I dare you”.
As outrage and condemnation filled the Internet, with many people branding his words and actions “disgraceful”, the governor’s daughter joined the controversy. She branded the protesting students “Generation of Mannerless Children” on her Instagram page.
“Generation of Mannerless children, they don’t respect their parents, how will they respect the Constitution,” she said after the video went viral.

Online newspaper, Sahara Reporters said Ajibola Ajimobi who got married last September is believed to be the second child to the Oyo governor.
The newspaper said LAUTECH students had on January 9 protested the continued closure of the university since June last year.
In Nigeria, big men are not used to giving accountability to the people. They often ask for respect and total obedience, knowing that godfathers not votes are more important to remain in power.
