‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 9 Queens

Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is in session, with 13 new Queens in the mix, hoping to win the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar”. The show has switched to the VH1 network after being a part of the LOGO TV network for so long. In an interview with the Huffington Post, RuPaul talked about the important of “drag” and explained: Drag challenges the status quo. Tt’s always challenged the matrix – the matrix being ‘choose an identity and stick with it the rest of your life because that’s how we want to sell products to you, so we’ll know who you are and can put you in a box and then sell you beer and shampoo. Well, drag says ‘I’m a shapeshifter, I do whatever the hell I want at any given time.’ And that is very, very political. The show airs Fridays, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
