Speculation that President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria is dead has not been confirmed and is not based on any evidence.
THE SIMON ATEBA NEWS has not been able to establish anything, and similar rumours in the past have proven to be false.
Rumours began to spread on the Internet on Sunday evening that the Nigerian leader was dead. Many readers contacted this newspaper, saying they had heard the President died on Sunday afternoon.
But this newspaper was not able to establish anything. President Buhari returned to London on May 7 for medical consultations. He had earlier spent 50 days there between January 19 and March 10.
Before his return on March 10, rumours spread like wildfire that the President was either dead or incapacitated. But he proved the rumour mongers wrong and re-emerged alive and better.
For weeks, it appeared as though everything was going well. But his health worsened, prompting him to return to London for treatment.
