The Police Service Commission has approved the redeployment of
four Commissioners of Police for a more effective and efficient
policing in line with its commitment to re-engineer the police
force for optimal results.
This was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement signed by the
Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.
Among those affected were the Commissioner of Police, Armament,
Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, who is now in charge of the Edo State
Command, Commissioner of Police/Deputy Force Secretary, David A.
Akinremi, who has been moved to head the Taraba State Command, AG,
CP Garba Baba Umar redeployed from Bayelsa to the Anambra State
Command and the Commissioner of Police, General Investigation,
FCIID, CP Lawan Ado, who has been posted to head the Kwara State
Command.
The statement noted that the postings have been communicated to
the IGP for implementation in a letter signed by the Permanent
Secretary/Secretary to the Commission, Musa Istifanus.
Chairman of the Commission, Dr Mike Mbama Okiro, urged the
affected officers to rededicate themselves to the service of the
nation.
He also asked that they settled down immediately and face
squarely the peculiar challenges of their respective State Commands
adding that they would be held responsible for any proven act of
omission or commission in their states.
Sir Okiro said the Commission will continue to play a fatherly
role and will support and encourage them in the discharge of their
duties.
