The ebullient Governor of Lagos State is at it
again.

About 30 lawyers working in the Lagos State Judiciary finally
heave a sigh of relieve as they are now to be absorbed into the
system as permanent staff of the Judiciary like their counter parts
in the Ministry of Justice.

This follows a directive from His excellency Gov. Akinwunmi
Ambode mandating the Head of the Judiciary, the Chief Judge of
Lagos State, through its appointing body, the Judicial Service
Commission, to absorb the lawyers who have been on contract for the
past eleven (11) years.

This is a positive development in the growth and welfare of
members of our noble profession.

Thenigerialawyer recalls that the acting president, Prof. Yemi
Osinbajo SAN, when he was the Attorney General of LAGOS State, came
up with the idea that lawyers should be employed to assist judges
in making research, writing judgments and other judicial
assignments.

Since then, these lawyers have been contract staff of the
Judiciary not until now that Gov. Ambode Akinwumi has given a
declaration that they be absorbed into the system finally.
