A civil society organisation, Office of the Citizen of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria (OCFRN) has hailed the federal
government resolutions to create special court to tame hate
speeches, saying the intention is laudable.

The convener of OCFRN’s, Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, who stated
this during an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP not
TheNigerialwyer in Abuja, said hate speeches only further deepen
the animosity driving the country apart. Olajengbensi also urged
the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to adopt other
measures towards pressing its demands.

He said strike actions only have a temporary effect on
government. The convener of the group who is also a legal
practitioner underscored the point that accumulated years of strike
have yet to help ASUU achieve its aim. “ASUU has recorded lots of
strike without achieving its demands; hence the need to seek other
alternative means of achieving its demand. “ASUU is a body of
intellectuals.

They must appraise each government based on their peculiarity,
that is, their soft or sensitive spots. Whatever conclusion they
come to must then be used in formulating a new policy action that
the government won’t see coming but would respond to in order to
save face,” he said.

Barr. Pelumi also described the the not too young to rule
campaign as a campaign long due and wholeheartedly appreciated.
“The timing couldn’t be more right. Youth inclusion in the affairs
of state is non-negotiable. We are after all equally victim of bad
leadership,” he said.
