The Chairman, EBF Governing Council, Arthur Chukwu through the
Publicity Secretary of EBF, Mr. George Fortune Igbikikuno, Esq has
voiced out what he describes as the shock received concerning the
publication making the rounds in the social media about a warning
given to one of their own, Mr. Paul Usoro SAN from contesting the
oncoming election.
Speaking further, after celebrating with their Muslims brothers,
the Governor cautioned Members of the Forum and others to be
cultured and live by the code of decorum, and desist from making
any form of inflammatory utterances.
In his words:
”The Chairman, EBF Governing Council, Chief Arthur Elvis
Chukwu, has observed with dismay social media messages designed to
truncate the unity of the Eastern Bar Forum, undermining and
casting aspersions at the members of the Governing Council of the
Eastern Bar Forum as well as disparaging and denigrating persons
contemplating to contest in the 2018 NBA General
Elections.
Much as we are lawyers and are entitled to the unimpeded
exercise of our right to freedom of speech/expression, we urge all
our members to show decorum, civility, maturity, unselfishness,
among other things, in our utterances and desist from making
inflammatory utterances.
The EBF shall meet at the apposite time and roll out the
schedule of activities for the 2018 NBA Elections subject to NBA
NEC decisions. Until such a time, all learned members of the EBF
with prospective expressions of intent to run for elective offices
next year, will do well to advice their supporters to conduct
themselves with decorum. Let us not put the cart before the horse.
