Eastern Bar Forum Governing Council, The Governor, Arthur Chukwu
has warned members of the forum and 2018 Presidential candidates in
the next year Election of the Nigerian Bar Association that, the
forum will at the appropriate time sanction anybody that indulges
in careless utterances and hate speech.
The warning reads below
“Dear colleagues of the most noble profession of law, I
bring you greetings from the Eastern Bar Forum(EBF) and wish to
make the following observations. I find it difficult to understand
why lawyers will suddenly loose their sense of dignity and respect
because of the contest for the NBA presidency in 2018.
I find it even more difficult to understand how the NBA
presidential candidates will keep quiet and enjoy the spate of lies
constantly told by their supporters without feeling the need to
caution them or even make any attempt at denying that such
supporters were sent by them to concoct those lies. The growing
spate of hate speeches, lies and distortions have began to worry me
and the tacit approval of them by presidential candidates on whose
behalf they are made is, to say the least cruel and measures the
kind of leadership such a candidate will offer or provide for NBA
if elected into office.
The EBF is keenly taking stock and will at the appropriate
time levy sanctions for all careless utterances and misconduct. We
urge those who have behaved well so far to keep it up, and to those
who indulge in lies and hate speeches to immediately stop as this
will most definitely affect the interest of their candidates
negatively. United we must stand!
Sir Arthur Elvis Chukwu (EBF
Governor)”
