Mr. Silas Joseph has advised the EBF to be careful with
how it intends to handle the oncoming NBA election as the election
is now looking like a EBF election.

Whilst tasking the EBF leadership to lead with wisdom, he noted
that failure to handle matters wisely with respect to the NBA
oncoming election could lead to the creation of a South South Bar
Forum which will weaken the strength of EBF.

According to him:

”It seems like the 2018 NBA Election is now “EBF” election.
This EBF must be careful with how it intends to handle the next
election as I foresee the creation of a “SOUTHSOUTH BAR FORUM”,
which will greatly deminish the strength and influnce of the EBF.
The EBF is gradually becoming a burden due to its obvious
preference of a candidate over other candidates of the same
forum.

Yesterday, I had a reason to explain an important point to a
colleague and brother who was almost brainwashed by a ragtag
article shared by its publisher at CAC. He was convinced that the
EBF has to adopt one of the many prospective candidates for next
year’s NBA election. All I did was to ask him one simple question –
‘If the EBF adopts one of the many candidates, will there be any
need for an election in July of 2018? This is so, considering that
all the candidates are from the EBF constituency. By the time he
left, he was more interested in being part of the decision making
by casting his vote for a preferred candidate rather than having a
President by default or back door electoral college. Maybe if Paul
Usoro breaks the EBF, then the Igbo Bar Forum “IBF” may freely have
the option of adopting a candidate. But, until then, there is no
sense in adopting anyone from the EBF for an election that is zoned
to a particular constituency – THE EBF.”

Stating further that the issue is not even a worthy subject of
discussion he, warned the leadership to lead by example in other to
avert any perceived threat to the unity of the forum.

In his words:

”I had warned that the EBF will extinct if the leadership does
not lead with wisdom and detach itself from any candidate or even
creating the atmosphere of suspicion that it prefers one candidate
over others.”, he said.
