Dear distinguished colleagues, the Nigerian Bar Association
Annual Bar Practicing fee is an important payment that every
serious minded lawyer must make.
There is a time frame within which these fees must be paid, that
is from 1st January to 31st March every year.
Therefore, in view of the public holiday declared for Friday, we
have only today, being Wednesday and tomorrow, Thursday to effect
payment.
Please do remember to make your payments to enable you exercise
your right to vote for candidates of your choice in addition to
other professional benefits.

Importance Of BPF As Payment
- Practice fees paid as and when due for 7 consecutive years
enables you to apply to be appointed as a Notary Public. And that
is basically the only requirement to be so appointed. As a Notary
Public, you have the capacity and status of a Commissioner for Oath
before whom a statement on oath can be sworn. - Most documents sent for use abroad are required to be notarized
by a Notary Public. - You could also get Letter of Good Standing from the Association
when required if you are a financial member of the Association. You
will always require Letter of Good Standing whenever you want to do
‘ANYTHING’ outside Nigeria where you have to show that you are a
professional, sometimes, including further study abroad, and most
times when attending conferences/ workshops/ seminars abroad. - Practice fees paid as and when due for ten consecutive years
qualifies you to apply for the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Although this is just one of several other requirements. - Practice fees paid as and when due gives you Right of audience
in court. If you don’t pay your BPF and you’re reported to the
judge You wont be allowed to conduct your case in. That means such
person has suffered a legal disability. - Practice fees paid as and when due gives you Right to take part
in key decisions affecting your profession. - Practice fees paid as and when due will be considered when you
want to step up or move to the next ladder in your career - Practicing fees paid as and when due will enable you to file
document and prepare agreement that will fetch you good
fortune.
