The unending blame game being chorused by President
Buhari in the discharge of his Constitutional functions is getting
to an alarming rate. The President cannot keeps on blaming others
for his responsibilities.
It is the height of Presidential dereliction and a gross display
of incompetence for Mr. President to blame the herdsmen’s crisis in
Nigeria on late Col. Muammah Gaddafi, Former Libyan military ruler.
Buhari is elected to protect and safeguard the territorial
integrity of the Country. If foreigners have infiltrated the
Country with illegal arms to terrorise Nigerians then the
President’s security architectures have either abdicated their
sacred duties of protecting lives and property in the Country or
the present Government lacks the competence to preside over the
ship of the nation.
If these same herdsmen the security agencies are lukewarm in
arresting in spite of the public outcry, are foreigners then the
Government has no excuse for its gross failure in securing lives
and property in Nigeria. Buhari by his comment at Archbishop Justin
Welby’s Court in London where blamed the Libyan leader for the
influx of armed herdsmen to Nigeria, is telling the world that he
is not in control of the seat of power.
By his narrative, it is clear to the world that Nigeria under
Buhari is no longer secured against foreign and domestic
aggressions. We wonder how Nigerians will survive the unprovoked
invasions by these invisible herdsmen for the remaining years
Buhari will be presiding over the affairs of the Country?
President Buhari should accept responsibility for his
Government. He is electe primarily to protect lives and property in
the Country. He cannot compound issue by making Nigerians to be
afraid of living in their fatherland. If that is the narrative our
President is telling us then he should resign for a competent
person to take over. We can’t afford to lose anymore Nigerians to
the herdsmen’s serial invasions of our peaceful communities. There
is no justification for foreigners to flood this Country with
illegal arms if the present Government is committed to its sacred
constitutional responsibilities.
