Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has rendered a message of
apology to Nigerians over the advertisement made by the Bank to
offer legal services to the general public.

The message under the Coporate Communication signature discloses
that the message has been drastically misunderstood.

According to the message disseminated to their customers and the
legal community, and made available to TheNigerialawyer, in their
bid to support small and medium scale enterprise, and facilitating
their ability to access abroad range of financial services, their
intention is to guide them in procuring the relevant solutions
required to put proper corporate governance structure in place to
grow their business.

The Bank therefore calls on the general public, especially the
legal community not to misunderstand the true intent of the
previous communication.

TheNigerialawyer recalls that the Union Bank of
Nigeria Plc incorporated under the relevant laws had earlier made
an advertisement offering to render legal services to the general
public. The offer included among others, corporate, NAFDAC, SCUML
and SON registration; perfection of title of lands, contract
drafting and reviews, etc.

This led to mixed reactions from lawyers in the legal community.
Sequel to this was the publishing of an article by
TheNigerialawyer, written by Ebi Robert, criticizing the
communication as to whether it was a breach of the RPC.
