A Federal High Court In Abuja, presided over by Justice
A.I Chikere on Thursday, 26th April, adjourned the suit on portrait
case involving Mr. Oladele Olubakin and NBA to 22nd May, 2018 for
definite hearing.
The matter came up for the first time. Counsel to Oladele
Olubakin informed the court that it has been over 40 days NBA was
served with court processes and since then the Association is yet
to file their statement of defence. He urged the court to give a
date for definite hearing of the matter.
Responding, counsel to NBA confirmed to the fact that they have
been served with court processes and apologized for their inability
to file their response before now.
However, he informed the court that memorandum of appearance has
been filed and they will file their statement of defence before the
next adjourned date.
The court reprimanded NBA and instructed them to be diligent in
prosecuting the matter.
Justice Chikere further admonished Mr. Olubakin to have himself
ready for examination at the next date.
The matter was adjourned to 22nd May, 2018.
It would be recalled that Mr. Olubakin Instituted a legal battle
against the NBA for alleged theft of his intellectual property
which NBA gifted to president Buhari. Olubakin is claiming over
N500 million in damages.
