*Says Atiku, Can Gain Something From The Results Of The
Election, Which Is Statesmanship
*Going To Court Looks Like An Impossible Mission

Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation magazine and a supporter
of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said that without the Election petition
cases, a lot of lawyers will be broke in Nigeria.

Mr. Momodu made this statement while reacting to the
presentation of Chief Wole Olanipekun, OFR, SAN, on the topic,
“Electoral Law, Election Petition And The Future Of Democracy In
Nigeria”, made in the University of Oxford.

He noted that he was wondering if Mr. Olanipekun has decided to
retire from the legal profession, because he has made enough money
from politicians. According to him, when someone like Chief
Olanipekun says that they should not go to court, he is practically
saying that he is about to retire.

He added that unfortunately, President Buhari has taken them
back to 1979 and 1983 when the system was not good. He, however,
said that the PDP Presidential candidate in the just concluded
General Elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, can gain something from
the results of the election, which is statesmanship.

According to him, he released series of tweets to Atiku,
advising him to call President Buhari, even though they believe
that the election was massively rigged.

He noted that though many people have been abusing the
President, insisting that they must fight, going to Court looks
like an impossible mission; and that right now, they are about
entering another difficult period, if care is not taking.

“I released a series of tweets to Atiku, advising him to call
President Buhari even though we believe that the election was
massively rigged. For Democracy to thrive in Nigeria, we must make
some sacrifice.

Going to Court looks like an impossible mission; right now, we
are about entering another difficult period. If care is not taking,
because Atiku is insisting he is not going to accept the
result.

“I believe he will gain something from this result which is
statesmanship. The sacrifice is not always convenient and
unfortunately in Africa, almost all the elections are contested,”
he said.
