Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Friday declared that he is
losing no sleep over winning his reelection in November.

According to him, he will easily win the election with wide
margin.

He spoke with State House correspondents after meeting President
Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said “I am the Governor today and Insha Allah, l will return
back as the Governor for another four years, after the November 16
election.

“As for the ticket, the analogy is that the tenant cannot send
the landlord out of his house. So, APC in Kogi state was rebuilt by
me, after the good job done by our late leader, His Excellency,
Prince Abubakar Audu.

“After his demise, l came, rebuilt it from the scratch to what
it is today. That is evident in the last outing of the party where
we had 25/25, in the State House of Assembly.

“We also won 7 out of the 9 contested positions in the House of
Representatives and two out of the three Senators representing Kogi
state in the Senate.

“So, anybody that is making such noise, does not disturb me,
because, in the market place, noise is allowed. You know, in Kogi
politics is the loudest, so people must make noise and you can’t
stop that.

“But surely, l am very good with my party from the local
government to the national level. They know that l am the leader of
the party in my state. I have built it and it is very strong.
Anytime, any day, we will win elections in landslide.

“That l am going to win in the primaries is given by the grace
of God, by whichever means, direct or indirect,” he said

The governor added “Secondly, in the November Governorship
election, we are not just talking of winning, we are looking at the
margins. The margin is going to be such that whoever comes far
second, will be discouraged to go to court.”

On the significance of declaration of June 12 as Nigeria’s
Democracy Day, he said that Nigerians cannot thank President Buhari
enough for the masterstroke of recognizing an icon synonymous with
democracy, the late Chief MKO Abiola.

He said “I think something would have been wrong if he had not
done this. For effectively doing it well, we can’t thank him
enough. It is so significant for us and the future generation to
know that this man paid the supreme price for the democracy we are
enjoying today.

“We continue to pray for him to do more for the country. He has
blazed the trail. It’s significance for politics and
politicians

“It politics, we have to be real we are in this politics to
serve. Chief MKO Abiola was out to serve us. He was denied.
President Muhammadu Buhari is serving us and he has also recognized
the man who paid the supreme sacrifice and what this means is that
we must remain real and have the interest of the masses at heart
and serve them to the best of our ability.” he said

On what Nigerians should expect from the party as it is now
heading the National Assembly leadership, he said that programs and
projects will now be quickly and easily implemented.

He said “You are going to see government at ease in the next
level. Programs, projects and every policies of government, you are
going to see them implemented with ease unlike what we saw in the
eight National Assembly.

“You can see now that the atmosphere is very calm and everybody
is happy. It shows that APC got it right this time around. So,
kudos to Mr. President, leadership of our great party and
leadership of the National Assembly and all the members of the
National Assembly.” he said

NIPR, CCC Collaborate to Improve Security Information
Management

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has said that
close working relationship between the Institute and the Centre for
Crisis Communication (CCC) if carefully handled, will improve the
quality of information management in the security sector.

The NIPR President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam
Mukhtar Sirajo, made the disclosure while receiving a delegation
from the Centre for Crises Communication at the NIPR Headquarters
in Abuja.

Sirajo who commended the body for facilitating an integrated
communication process in crisis management in the security sector
stated that NIPR as an Institute chartered by Act of the Parliament
has a duty to ensure that all who indulge in the practice of Public
Relations comply with the law.

He said that security communication is strategic and a sensitive
business which must be professionally done, and expressed the
willingness of the Institute to collaborate with the Centre.

“The NIPR welcomes the support and understanding of key
stakeholder in the task of nation building”, he said, and commended
the efforts and impact of the Centre since inception, pointing out
that it has helped to reduce discordant and conflicting information
from the security sector.

The NIPR boss said it was important that the public knows that
the Institute is chartered.

“NIPR is neither an association nor a trade union. You cannot go
to Corporate Affairs Commission to look for certificate of
Incorporation of NIPR, you won’t get it. The Institute is a
creation of the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Therefore,
we have the backing of the law to act accordingly”, he noted.

He said the Institute as a responsible entity recognized the
fact that some persons are already in the practice by error and
called on those in that category to take advantage of the window of
opportunity created by NIPR (Master Class) to regularize with the
Institute.

He said that the relationship will facilitate the certification
of security information and image managers through the Institute’s
master class and other training programmes which will equip them
for greater efficiency.

He seized the occasion to enjoin those who are not yet on the
right side of the law concerning membership of the Institute to do
so, warning that the Institute will soon take a step further to
publish the list of defaulters in the country.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis
Communication, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, Rtd, said that the Centre
has recognized the NIPR as a relevant stakeholder, and sought
partnership in the area of training and NIPR certification for
personnel in critical agencies for effective crises
communication.

He explained that the CCC was initiated to address issues of
conflict and crisis within the Nigerian security architecture,
saying that the body has been successful in its vision by ensuring
synergy in security communication in recent times.

Anas reiterated the need for all and sundry to take public
relations seriously, saying that relationship building is
everybody’s business, and commended the NIPR President for his role
in building the reputation of the country.

“Your vision of repositioning the NIPR has been commendable, and
we have seen that the Institute has been better redirected and
focused to carry out its important role in national development”,
he said.

While specifically congratulating the President for the success
of the Institute’s AGM / Conference, which he described as “well
organized and attended”, he said that the outing has positioned the
Institute as an invaluable stakeholder in the Nigerian project.

The Centre for Crisis Communication is the Secretariat of the
Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA)
which has 18 agencies from military, security, intelligence and
response agencies.
