The Egyptian striker tested positive for covid while on
international duty last week

Liverpool managed to navigate a tricky fixture against
Leicester City today without a bevy of their key
players. Most, such as Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and Trent
Alexander-Arnold, were missing due to a multitude of injuries.
Mohamed Salah missed out due to contracting covid-19 while on international
duty
.

Salah had been in quarantine at a hotel in El-Gouna, Egypt,
prior to being flown back to England on Friday on a
private jet alongside Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny. The Arsenal player had also
tested positive for the virus while with Egypt.

Once back in Liverpool, and past the 10 days of self-isolation
required by the Premier League, it was just a waiting game for
Salah. Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, found out that Salah tested
negative for the virus today, which he mentioned in h is post-match
press conference.

“That’s what I’ve heard. A negative today,” said Klopp of
Salah’s test result. “I think from now he is pretty normal in all
the testing. Tomorrow we have UEFA testing for the Champions League and I am pretty sure he will be in
that. He can now train with us tomorrow.”

Having a player of Salah’s caliber would be a big boost for
their Champions League clash against Atalanta on Wednesday.
Liverpool currently top the group with 9 points from the first
three games, and are entering the reverse fixtures.

“There could be Premier League tests the day after,” continued
Klopp. “Yes, there are two tests in the next two days so he will be
tested, like all of us.”

That is great news for Klopp and the rest of the thing Liverpool
squad should Salah be cleared to play. The team plays twice a week
through the end of this year, so every available player will be
needed for Liverpool to mount title challenges on multiple fronts
again.
