Among a dozen candidates cleared for the Edo State APC governorship primaries is former Zonal Organizing Secretary (South-South) Dr. Blessing Agbomhere. Dr. Agbomhere received his official clearance certificate Saturday along with 11 other aspirants hoping to clinch the party nomination.
Clearance certificates signed by National Organizing Secretary Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu confirm Dr. Agbomhere has been fully approved.
With the highly anticipated APC primaries approaching February 17th, he can now concentrate full energy on members’ outreach and messaging.
Dr. Agbomhere will face notable competition for the governorship slot on Saturday, including front-runners like former Minister Clem Agba and 2020 candidate of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. However, with official APC backing his bid for now, Agbomhere remains firmly in the mix.
The economist and seasoned administrator has emphasized his rural development vision for Edo State. Key policy priorities include healthcare expansion into underserved communities, youth skills training and opportunity creation, as well as security cooperation with law enforcement to stem kidnapping and violence.
As the governorship race heats up this week, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere is hoping his experience and policy platform will convince members to send him into the general elections as the APC standard-bearer. But he must first outshine a talented group of familiar names during a hotly contested primary vote.
