FCT Police Warn Proscribed IMN To Stay Clear During Nigeria’s 64th Independence Celebration

Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has warned the proscribed religious group, Islamic Movement of Nigeria to stay clear of the Territory during Nigeria’s 64th Independence celebration.
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) zone 7 presiding over FCT and Niger State commands, Benneth Igweh disclosed this to newsmen on Monday at the FCT Police Command during a press briefing.
He said, “The FCT Police Command is poised to ensure normal safety for everybody. There will will be traffic intersection, there will few stop and search we have to introduce.
“We a lot of intelligence at our disposal tomorrow that the Federal Government has graciously declared that tomorrow as a public holiday, so those who don’t any business with the celebration don’t need to come out, you can celebrate.
“We have a lot of intelligence at our disposal that some miscreants to be led, including members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria wants to be on the streets.
“I want to say that because they have been proscribed, they don’t have the right to assemble, the don’t have the right to go on procession, tomorrow we are going to readily wait for them, whoever may to ferment trouble.
“We are ready for that we will ensure safety, we will not stay away from our responsibility, if anybody decide to join the proscribed group, so be it.”
When asked about a claim by leaders of the planned October 1st protests #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria 2.0, Igweh said he was yet to receive any letter or application fro the group to protest.
“We have not received any of such letter or application, we have not, if they want to do such a thing, they should approached or write to us, even if they have written to our bosses, they would have intimated us to know about such thing.
“I don’t know if the protest is guided or not, if you are to protest, protest is for everybody, protest within the ambit of the law, if you protest as if the there is no law, we will tell you that the law exist,” he stated.
