A former deputy governor of Delta State, Professor Amos Otuama, has died.
Our correspondent gathered that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) passed on in the early hours of Saturday in Lagos.
Born June 5, 1947, Utuama was deputy to former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and both served for eight years on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was, however, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Delta State under the administration of former Governor James Ibori.
The family of the legal icon has not officially announced his passing.
Before his foray into politics, Prof. Utuama was a well-respected lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
He was a native of Otughievwen (Otu-Jeremi) town in Ughievwen Kingdom of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The former deputy governor has lost much interest in life and has been in and out of hospital after the passing of his dear wife, Dr Nelly Utuama.
