Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, honored Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, at a dinner held on Sunday. In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the governor recognized her achievements and contributions to the Nigerian judiciary.
Governor Sanwo-Olu referred to Justice Kekere-Ekun as a “proud daughter of Lagos” and praised her role as the second woman to hold Nigeria’s highest judicial office. He remarked, “Justice Kekere-Ekun embodies a source of pride for every Lagosian,” highlighting her impact as an inspiring figure for women and young girls across the country.
The governor also commended Justice Kekere-Ekun’s leadership, describing her as a “guiding light” who showcases how excellence and dedication can transcend gender boundaries. He acknowledged Lagos State’s commitment to legal innovation, mentioning the contributions of past governors in implementing reforms that have shaped the state’s judiciary.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed pride in Lagos’ ability to nurture exceptional legal professionals within the bar and the bench, noting that the state has consistently produced outstanding legal minds who have made significant contributions to the Nigerian legal system.
