Former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday, received the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, at his residence in Lagos.
The reason for their meeting was not immediately clear. However, our correspondent learned that it was centered around political discussions.
This comes days after Omoluabi Progressives, a group backed by Aregbesola, broke away from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group’s spokesperson, Abosede Oluwaseun, stated that members decided to leave the APC due to “ostracization from the party, suspension and expulsion of leaders without fair hearing, and the continuous denigration of the structure.”
In response, the APC expelled Aregbesola over alleged anti-party activities.
Kwankwaso is also facing challenges within his party, as the new NNPP chairman recently stated that Kwankwaso’s faction is not recognized within the party.
