In a day marked by learning, leadership, and legal inspiration, former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN, FCIArb (UK), visited Benin City on June 13, 2025, for a memorable series of engagements with the legal community in Edo State.
The visit commenced with a courtesy call on the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Edo State, Dr. Samson R. Osagie, Ph.D., at the Ministry of Justice. Mr. Akangbe was warmly received by the Attorney General, directors, and senior officers of the Ministry, alongside representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Benin Branch and the Young Lawyers’ Forum (YLF) Benin Branch.
During the visit, Mr. Akangbe commended the Ministry’s dedication to justice delivery and institutional development in the state. In appreciation of his visit, the Attorney General presented him with a symbolic Benin artifact — a gesture Mr. Akangbe described as deeply meaningful and culturally rich.
The second leg of the visit took place at the NBA Benin Bar House, the venue for the “Connect & Cultivate” Workshop and Hangout, organized by the YLF Benin Branch. The event brought together a vibrant mix of legal minds, including the NBA Benin Branch Chairman, members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), and dozens of young, aspiring legal professionals.
Delivering a keynote lecture on “The Business of Law and Networking for Young Lawyers”, Mr. Akangbe shared practical insights on career development, navigating the modern legal landscape, and building sustainable legal practices. The interactive session drew wide participation, with thoughtful questions and impactful feedback from attendees.
