Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, has extended a heartfelt goodwill message to young legal practitioners attending the NBA Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) summit in Calabar.
In his address to the forum themed “A New Legal Face – A Step into the Future of Legal Practice with Bold Ideas, Real Growth, and Guidance from Those Who Walked the Path”, Akangbe applauded the initiative, describing it as a timely and visionary engagement.
“Let me commend you for choosing to gather, reflect, and reimagine the future—because no one can feature in a future they have not first pictured,” Akangbe said.
He emphasized the transformative shifts occurring in the legal profession, noting that the future belongs to those who dare to innovate, stay curious, and remain open to mentorship.
“This summit’s theme is not just aspirational—it is intentional. The legal profession is shifting, and those who will thrive are those who are bold enough to dream, curious enough to learn, and humble enough to be guided,” he remarked.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria advised young lawyers to be deliberate about the mentors they learn from, underscoring that “the caliber of persons you choose to learn from will determine how far and how fast you soar. Wisdom is never accidental.”
Akangbe urged them to invest in building strong networks, maintain a hunger for growth, and uphold the core values of the legal profession—brilliance matched with integrity.
“The path is not always easy, but you are not walking it alone. I celebrate you. I believe in you,” he concluded.
