Peter Obi once again exhibits a regrettable disregard for integrity, honesty, and statesmanship. One would expect such baseless bluster from overenthusiastic partisans rather than a recurring presidential contender. Evidently, the principal and his devoted followers remain cut from the exact same cloth.

Few things are as preposterous as Obi’s recent insistence that he triumphed in the 2023 presidential contest, an assertion rendered even more ridiculous by his open admission that he has zero proof to substantiate it.

During a recent broadcast on the BBC, Obi remarked: “I don’t like going back to the past. I won the last election. There’s no evidence, but I won the election. Everything is not based on evidence.”

By this bizarre logic, asserting wild falsehoods devoid of any verification or plausibility is perfectly acceptable. In Obi’s worldview, launching unproven allegations and airing reckless assumptions without factual basis is entirely justifiable.

This mindset is profoundly alarming. There appears to be no end to his theatrical posturing, political antics, and endless charades.

For a politician who trailed in a distant third position to repeatedly claim he won—completely detached from certified figures and factual reality—demonstrates an utter contempt for the truth and a severe disconnect from actual events. Such continuous distortion of facts is wholly unfitting for anyone seeking the highest office in the country.

One is forced to wonder where he gathers his intelligence. Is he consulting his notorious roadside strategist at Upper Iweka, or relying on digital acolytes typing away from laptops across Dallas and California?

To state what is already universally acknowledged: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured an emphatic and indisputable triumph in the 2023 polls. The Independent National Electoral Commission certified the outcome, and both the election tribunal and the Supreme Court upheld the verdict beyond all doubt.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu remains focused on executing his mandate, implementing critical structural changes that are steadying the national economy, revitalizing critical infrastructure, empowering small enterprises and the youth, upgrading public healthcare and schooling, and spurring job creation.

Finally, we challenge Peter Obi to demonstrate true decency by keeping his public vow to withdraw from the 2027 presidential contest if it was shown that his Anambra administration left behind unpaid liabilities—a reality now conclusively affirmed by official state accounting records.
