Ibrahim Magu

The Nigerian Senate has scheduled the confirmation hearing of the embattled Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, for Wednesday, March 15, sources said on Tuesday.

The Senators had rejected Mr. Magu’s confirmation last year after the Nigerian Secret Police accused him of being corrupt, and unable to lead the EFCC with the integrity it needed.

But President Buhari sent his name back for confirmation, and Senators had said they would screen him under some conditions. It was not clear if those conditions had been met.

Mr. Buhari held a closed door meeting with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday in Abuja.

This is a breaking news. THE SIMON ATEBA NEWS will update.
