Six Nigerian policemen sent to maintain law and order in a land dispute between two communities in Rivers State have been killed and buried in shallow graves, thenewsnigeria.com.ng reported on Friday.
The newspaper said seven operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) were sent on Thursday to maintain law and order in a land conflict that broke out between the Okuru and Okujagu communities in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State but five of them were killed by suspect cultists.
The dead cops were identified as AP NO 144265 INSP Dokubo Tamunosaki, AP NO 149006 INSP Aferuan Imoukhuede, FNO 383094 SGT Yohana Joshua, FNO 356434 SGT Ojebo Kennedy, FNO 370181 SGT Issuaya Efa, FNO 365048 SGT Odeh Joseph.
The seventh cop, the newspaper said, managed to escape.
When TheNEWS called Ahmad Muhammad,DSP, the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer for his confirmation this morning, he merely said :”I will issue a statement on it anytime from now”.
