Wife of President of the Senate Mrs. Toyin Saraki and members of the Senators’ Wives Forum (8th Session) on Friday felicitated with the Nigerian Children to mark this year’s Children’s Day.
In a Statement released by the Forum’s Secretariat, President of the association, Mrs. Toyin Saraki described Nigerian children as “bright, full of promise for the future and deserving of every support and care from their families, schools, and government in general.”
She reaffirmed her support and that of the Senators’ Wives Forum to The Global Girl Declaration which lays emphasis on putting girls’ education and health at the centre of Government and Institutional Policies to ensure equal access to the privileges accessed by their male counterparts.
Mrs Saraki also expressed the hope that the proposed revised Gender & Equal Opportunities Bill which the Forum is working with other activists to ensure its return to the Senate, will pave the way for more legally binding coverage and protection of the rights of the girl-child.
