Social Media Star Qandeel Baloch Murdered By Brother Waseem Azeem: The Photos You Need to See

Qandeel Baloch (real name Fouzia Azeem) was a Pakistani model, singer, and Internet sensation with a long life ahead of her. Unfortunately, her life was cut short when she was murdered this past Friday. Her brother Waseem Azeem confessed to ending her life by strangulation as an “honor” killing. BBC reports Azeem stating that: She wasn’t aware I was killing her. I gave her a tablet and then strangled her. Baloch first rose to fame in 2014 and is known for her controversial posts and racy photos online. She has over 43,000 Twitter followers and more than 700,000 on Facebook, making her an internet star. According to the Associate Press, each year, hundreds of Pakistani women who “[violate] conservative norms” are killed by family members and it appears that Baloch is one of this year’s victims. It’s truly heartbreaking. It was her parents who alerted police that one of Baloch’s six brothers had killed her. Prior to her killing, Baloch posted this powerful message online: As a women we must stand up for ourselves. As a women we must stand up for each other…As a women we must stand up for justice. I believe I am a modern day feminist. I believe in equality. I need not to choose what type of women should be. I don’t think there is any need to label ourselves just for sake of society. I am just a women with free thoughts free mindset and I LOVE THE WAY I AM. Recently, Baloch had been receiving death threats because of a scandal with Mufti Adbul Qavi, a member of the clergy. Because Qavi was photographed with Baloch, the government suspended him and took him off of one of his posts. During a press conference, Baloch’s brother revealed: After the videos with Mufti Abdul Qavi had gone viral on social media, I planned to murder her and was only waiting for the best moment.
