The United States Embassy in Nigeria has made an estimated N4 billion on visa applications it rejected in 2015 alone, a report has revealed. Information obtained by Herald indicates that there were a total of 202,267 visa applications by Nigerians, from which the US embassy made about $32.4million. Of these, 65, 858 applications were denied yielding a refusal rate of 32.56 percent. Meanwhile, South Africa, Africa’s new largest economy, recorded a refusal rate of 5.08 percent out of 51,024 total applications – 2,592 unsuccessful application. Despite the harsh treatment, thousands of Nigerians still want to visit the United States, with some seeking for greener pastures abroad whilst others have genuine intentions to visit and return to Nigeria.
