In a country where one man has been in power for about 34 years, President Paul Biya of Cameroon, who has ruled the central African country by holding no press conference or being close to his people, shocked many when he took selfies for the first time.
He was meeting with the country’s female soccer team. The images of Biya taking selfies will shock many people, especially anglophones who have been battling security forces as they demand equal rights in a country vastly dominated by Francophones.
As all strongmen, Biya has avoided public appearances and debates. He does not hold press conferences and does not attend many public events in his country.
