On Monday, People announced that the husband and wife team behind HGTV’s Flip or Flop have announced their separation after seven years of marriage. According to the outlet, the news comes six months after police were called to the home of Tarek and Christina El Moussa following an altercation. The couple revealed in a joint statement that they will continue their professional life together, but will be taking time away from their marriage. A section of their statement reads, “Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.” Flip or Flop follows Tarek and Christina, real estate agents turned flippers, and originally aired in April 2013. According to The Orange County Register, HGTV has said it will “honor any decision that works best for the couple and their children.” Production on the series will continue as scheduled.
