A car, carrying a man and his fiancee, crashed into the Lagos lagoon on Saturday night, killing the woman, the same night the man was going to propose to her. What caused the crash has not been determined.
The silver coloured Kia Rio with registration number Lagos, MUS 38 BL, veered off the Mark Ewen Bridge inward Bonny camp at about 7.30 pm, reported Lagoscityreporters.
The newspaper said “the driver, name withheld, swam out from the water, while his fiancee whom he was supposed to propose, did not survive”.
That incident occurred just a day after a fully loaded bus plunged into water in IKorodu area of Lagos filled with passengers from Enugu state.
Lagoscityreporters said emergency responders assisted by local divers were able to recover the car from the lagoon and the dead body from the car.
“The recovery operation was enhanced with the use of LASEMA heavy duty equipment, the recovered car has since been towed to Bar Beach police station and the dead body has been deposited at the Mainland General hospital,” the newspaper said.
