Nairametrics| The sudden death of the Founder/CEO of Omatek Computers, comes as a great loss to the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and the business community at large.

Mrs Florence Seriki died last Saturday after a brief illness.

Whilst the ICT sector and investing community mourns this loss, shareholders of the company are already mulling who takes over her position as the CEO of the company. Mrs Seriki had been CEO since inception.

Omatek’s board, is expected to hold an emergency meeting to appoint an acting MD, pending approval by regulators. The stock is presently trading at the minimum share price of 50 kobo and has missed several regulatory filings. Financial statements for 2014, show Mrs Seriki as the single largest shareholder of the company, with a 52% stake.

Omatek computers started out operations in 1988 as a training outfit for blue chip companies like Shell and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), then became a distributor of prominent technology brands such as Dell and Acer. The company soon progressed to assembly of computers within the country, as well as having subsidiaries in Ghana.
