There is no gainsaying that over the years bad roads have remained one of the major infrastructural challenges in Abia State. Both the Federal and State roads have remained a nightmare, but residents and commuters without any better alternative, have had to grapple with the situation.

Aba, the economic honey pot and commercial nerve centre of the State is arguably the worst hit, as it parades the highest number of failed roads in the State, if not in the entire South-East.

Obviously worried by this precarious situation, a cross section of Abia State indigenes have expressed their displeasure over the level of infrastructural decay that that are littered all around the State, under the leadership of Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

A shocking video that was sent to Post-Nigeria, exposes the infrastructural dilapidation of the ‘God’s Own State’, as some of the State indegenes lampooned the Governor, for doing little or nothing to improve the living condition of the people, for two years of being in power.

The Aba – Porthacourt road is the worst hit yet, as tricycle riders and business owners bemoaned that the current Governor has failed to fulfill his electoral promises to salvage the deplorable state of the road, in order to ease the suffering of the masses.

Against this backdrop, various speakers described the road which happens to be a commercial hub centre connecting Aba and Rivers State, as a huge slaughter slab.

The ripple effect of such a pathetic situation is certainly obvious. Livelihood is grossly affected in different ways: economically, socially, and culturally.

Economically, business activities are affected in no small measures. Motorists have continually lamented over the pains of driving on this road. Consequently, the prices of goods and services have skyrocketed.
