At least 90 generous people have donated at least N1.5 million to support residents of Otodo Gbame evicted on the orders of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos.
“Together, 90 generous people have donated N1.5m+ to support urgent relief for #OtodoGbame evictees — we are making a difference,” Justice and Empowerment Initiatives Nigeria (JEI) said on Twitter on Thursday night. But more was needed to feed the thousands of people, including babies and children rendered homeless overnight.
About 5000 people have been rendered homeless since March 17 when Governor Ambode sent bulldozers to crush their homes and policemen to set them on fire against a court ruling that the demolitions were unconstitutional.
