Two Nigerian boys in the northeastern state of Borno went out on Saturday for grazing but ended up meeting some Boko Haram terrorists. Everything seemed normal when the boys returned home. But, in the end, one of the boys died while the other sustained injuries.
The tragic incident started at about 10 o’clock in the morning on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, when 10-year old Gambo Bukar and 8-year Umar Bukar, from Jere Local Government Area, went out for grazing in Baram and Tamsongamdu villages in Mafa Local Government Area also in Borno state.
Hours later, the boys met some Boko Haram terrorists who strapped one of them, Gambo Bukar, with an explosive device vest before asking them to return home.
They returned home at about 4 o’clock in the evening but failed to disclose their encounter with the terrorists, who have been wreaking havoc in Nigeria since 2009 and in Cameroon since 2014.
“In the process of unstrapping the vest, the IED exploded killing Gambo Bukar alone, while Umar Bukar sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Scene was visited and the area rendered safe by police EOD team. Normalcy has since been restored to the area,” PRNigeria said.
Boko Haram has been wreaking havoc in Nigeria since 2009, killing more than 25, 000 people, displacing millions and kidnapping thousands of girls to turn them into fighters or sex slaves and thousands of boys to train them as suicide bombers and fighters.
In the end, this unreported war in the international media, which has killed more people than ISIS, has left millions of people on the run with their lives completely ruined.
