At least 34 people were still missing on Monday morning after a boat belonging to the Cameroonian military sank on Sunday morning and an investigation has been ordered by President Paul Biya, the Presidency said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defence first announced on Sunday that the logistics boat belonging to the elite force, the Rapid Intervention Brigade, known by its French acronym BIR, the same force that has been fighting Boko Haram along with Nigerian and Chadian forces, capsized with 37 people on board.
Three soldiers were rescued while 34 persons were still unaccounted for on Monday morning, the presidential statement said.
The accident occurred at the northern end of the coast near the village of Debunsha and was believed to have been caused by rough waters.
But investigators would find out what happened.
