Security Operatives at the National Assembly, on Monday, “declared war” on Journalists covering the Federal Legislature, over a story of how some unaccredited persons bribe their way into the Legislature premises.

It was gathered that unaccredited individuals gain access into the National Assembly complex, by giving roasted meat, a plate of food, or paying N1,000, thereby posing as security risk.

Investigation revealed that while petty traders used their wares, including suya, plate of food, to bribe their ways into the complex, visitors who throng there to solicit money from Lawmakers, pay N2,000 on sitting days, and N1,000 on non-sitting days.

The management, has thereby ordered for serious security checks on people coming into the National Assembly, henceforth.

As a result of the directive, Journalists were particularly targeted by the security men manning the National Assembly gate, mainly the men of the sergeant-at-arms.

The security men who stopped some Journalists at the entry gate, on Monday said: “We have declared war on Journalists, since you want to spoil our job.”

One of the Journalists almost fought with the security men, after he showed them his approved entry permit, but yet they denied him entry.

Some of the Journalists were delayed for over two hours at the gate, before they eventually gained access into the National Assembly premises, for their various assignments.

It was also gathered that food sellers have been banned from entering the premises.
