A grammatical error by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board (JAMB) has raised dust on social media.

The board, via its Twitter handle, meant to say the 120 cut-off
mark for entrance into universities is not an automatic ticket for
admission.

But instead, it tweeted, “the 120 cut off marks for universities
does not automatic admission”.

Reacting to the tweet, @AmbodeObsarver, a Twitter handle that
specialises in tongue-in-cheek satire, tweeted at Akinwunmi Ambode,
Lagos state governor, asking if JAMB’s proficiency in the English
language could meet its 120 cut-off mark.

The board had on Tuesday announced 120 as the cut-off mark for
admission into universities.

The cut-off mark for admission into polytechnics is 100,
colleges of education is also 100, while national innovative
enterprise institution is 110.

The new cut-off marks have elicited a lot of negative reactions
while some tertiary institutions and unions have outrightly
rejected it.
