Hhuman rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), says he is taking
the Federal Government to court over the recent killings in Benue
State which has left scores dead and hundreds displaced.
Falana stated this during an interview with one of our
correspondents on Tuesday.
The senior advocate explained that he had set up a team of
lawyers to collate necessary information on the matter after which
he would ask the court to compel the Federal Government to arrest
the perpetrators.
He said, “I am taking the matter to court to defend the rights
of our people to life; it is the most fundamental right. The right
to life is the most fundamental right.
“These reckless killings cannot continue without a concrete
action on the part of the Federal Government. So, we are going to
court to ask for mandamus to compel the Federal Government to save
the lives and property of all Nigerians.
“I have set up a team of lawyers on the ground to collate
necessary information on this matter.”
