What is your favourite food?

I love rice, plantain, and a native soup
called orugbo. It’s made from bitter leaf (you don’t
wash off the bitterness) and it is eaten with a cassava meal,
called pupuru. I love fresh fish, especially the ones
that have scales. As a matter of fact, I can’t do without them. I
also love potatoes, yam, cocoyam and the rest.

How many meals do you eat in a
day?

I eat twice a day and this is tied to my faith; just like the
raven fed Elijah twice daily and the Israelites ate twice in the
wilderness. Basically, I can’t eat more than two main meals in a
day. I begin with breakfast, which comes between the hours of 10
and 11 in the morning. I usually love to be done with dinner by 6pm
even though I can’t help eating late sometimes.

Considering your hectic schedule, how do you ensure
your meals are healthy?

I fast a lot and days when I don’t fast, I like to start my day
on an empty stomach. As such, I don’t eat breakfast till
mid-morning. Since my office is not far from home, I can easily
call for my food. I like my food being monitored by my wife. I
usually eat a balanced diet and I take fruits a lot.

Do you have any food allergy?

I don’t take pastries because I react to wheat and its
products.

Are you a good cook?

Yes, I cook very well. I grew up with my grandmother who usually
compelled me to stay with her in the kitchen and she also taught me
how to grind pepper using a grinding stone.

What food do you cook best?

I can cook different kinds of food and in those days when I had
more time to spare, I cooked food
like orugbo and pupuru.  Now,
my busy schedule doesn’t allow me to cook any longer. Anyway, my
wife has been doing an amazing job meeting my needs in that
aspect.

How often do you eat out?

I usually take my family out to eat as often as possible.

What puts you off in a meal?

I get easily pissed off with a food once there is too much salt
and oil.

Do you have food craving?

Yes, I usually have cravings for smoked fish and fried unripe
plantain. Most times, that is what I snack on.

What are some foods that you cannot
eat?

Firstly, I’ll like to say that one can eat anything as long as
it is in moderation. However, I’ll not deliberately eat dog, snake,
monkey, donkey and vulture.

What is the most unusual thing you have ever
eaten?

I have had so many unusual things and they turned out to be
lovely. For instance, when I went to Dubai, I was served salmon.
Theirs was quite different because it had this sweet and sour taste
but very nutritious and attractive. Also, when Gani Fawehinmi was
alive, we used to eat antelope intestines together and it was
usually nice; it’s so difficult to get such these days.
