* Judicial Oath and Oath of office were administered on the
new judges.

Governor Willie Obiano, yesterday, swore in two new judges for
the state High Court.

The two new judges, Justices Emeka Nri Ezedi and Obiorah
Nwabunike, bring to ten, the total number of judges that have been
appointed under the Obiano administration.
Justice Nri Ezedi was, before his new appointment, a private legal
practitioner in Onitsha while Justice Nwabunike was into private
practice at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Governor Obiano, while congratulating the new judges, expressed
the hope that their addition will help strengthen the State
judiciary to effectively tackle the challenges of prompt
dispensation of Justice.

He further said their appointments is expected to also address
the issues of delayed justice experienced in some courts due to the
ageing judges, reminding them that justice delayed is justice
denied.

Responding on behalf of the newly appointed judges, Justice Nri
Ezedi thanked Governor Obiano for providing the necessary support
that made it possible for the state judiciary to meet the
requirements of the National Judicial Commission for their
appointments, and assured that they are mindful of the expectations
of the State from them and will abide by the Oaths they took.

The swearing in of the two new judges follows their appointment
by the State Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi and its ratification
and approval by the National Judicial Commission.
