The Taraba State chairman National Union of Teachers NUT, Peter Vau ,has demanded that the government should provide loan facilities to uplift the Economic status of Teachers.
The NUT chairman stated this Friday in Jalingo,on the occasion of world Teachers day with the Theme “The Right to Education means a Right to a quality Teacher “.
Vau said apart from the fun fare associated with the day it was also a time for stock taking and appraisal of the teaching profession, how it affects the state and the nation at large.
“In the same vain, may I quickly use this year’s WTD to enumerate the demands of Taraba state Teachers to the government as follows:- Need for loan facilities to uplift the economic status of teachers, Backlog of arrears of primary school teachers salaries in the state. i.e February 2017,August and September, 2018”.
“Outstanding balance of the national minimum wage for primary school teachers, backlog of promotions of both primary and post primary school teachers, none implementation of promotions of of primary school teachers from 2008 to date,” he said.
“Beside the fun fare and the celebration that go with the day. It is also a time for stock taking and appraisal of the teaching profession and how it is faring in our state and the nation at large “
The chairman appreciated teachers in the state for their support and promise to always place their demands for government to implement .
