10% Increase In Filling Fees: ICPC Replies Hameed Ajibola Jimoh’s Petition Against FCT High Court

The Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences
Commission (ICPC), has acknowledged receipt of the petition written
by Human Right Activist, Hameed Ajibola Jimoh, Esq., against the
management of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory –
Abuja and YWC Technologies Limited.

In a reply dated the 30th day of November, 2018, and made
available to TheNigerialawyer (TNL), M.M. Adullahi, acting for the
Ag Chairman of the commission, said that the petitioner will be
notified of further development of the petition if necessary.

The reply reads:

“I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your petition dated
8th November, 2018 on the above subject. You will be notified of
further development if necessary. Quote the reference number above
in your future correspondence with the Commission on this issue.
Please accept the assurances of the Acting Chairman’s highest
regards.”

TNL recalls that the Hameed Ajibola Jimoh had also
petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the
policy of the 10% increase in filing fesses at the FCT High Court.
Recall also that another lawyer, Mr. Felix Ashimole had also
condemned the court’s policy of collecting the 10% increase of
filing fees in conjunction with a private firm.

However, in a reply published on the 18th day of January,
2019, the management of the Court debunked the allegations made
against it, claiming that his allegations were built on falsehood,
whilst giving reasons why there was an increase in the said filing
fees.
